FAQ

IS ANY JOB TOO BIG OR SMALL?
No job is too big or small! We are prepared to treat the area as needed and build it back with expert finishes no matter the size. We take extensive measures to assist with both the containment and the removal of effected building materials. Our team will use the proper PPE (personal protection equipment) to eliminate any cross-contamination while entering or exiting the work space. You will be notified in advance if the premises should be vacated at any point during the mold removal or water damage mitigation process, and we'll do our best to accommodate your schedule.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY SPACE IS CONTAMINATED?
Mold does not always present itself in an obvious way, but it is typically something you may see or smell. If you have an area of concern - you can start by looking for any discoloration or deterioration to the surface, as well as musty odors developing. These are signs of a problem that should be treated by a mold removal professional right away. We make sure to look beyond the surface with an in-depth assessment to determine the level of remediation needed.
HOW DOES WATER DAMAGE LEAD TO MOLD GROWTH
Water damage can lead to mold growth because mold spores are present in the air and on various surfaces. When water intrudes into a building, whether due to a leak, flood, high humidity, or other sources, it creates the ideal conditions for mold to thrive. Mold requires a source of moisture to grow. When water damage occurs, it provides the necessary moisture for mold spores to become active and start the growth process. Mold can feed on a variety of organic materials commonly found in buildings, including wood, drywall, paper, and even dust. When these materials become wet, they provide nutrients for mold to thrive.

DO YOU BUILD BACK THE SPACE AFTER WATER DAMAGE MITIGATION AND MOLD REMEDIATION
YES! We are aware that not all water damage and mold remediation companies build back a space after the walls are cut, ceilings torn down, or carpeting is removed; but we build back your space to its pre-damaged condition! We remove and dispose of damaged building materials, such as drywall, insulation, flooring, and ceiling tiles, etc. We reconstruct the affected area with new materials, including drywall, insulation, flooring, and any other building components that were removed. We also install vapor barriers, sump pumps and other items that can help prevent future water damage. Depending on the extent of the damage, structural repairs may be necessary to restore the integrity of the building. Our goal is to return your space to an area that is secure, safe and pleasing to you.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF MOLD CONTAMINATION
We start with a visual inspection looking for signs such as discoloration, staining, or mold growth on surfaces. We pay special attention to areas that may have moisture issues, such as around plumbing, in basements, crawl spaces or near leaky roofs. We use moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, or other tools to detect areas with elevated humidity or moisture content. This helps us in pinpointing the source of the problem and identify hidden mold growth. If necessary, we take air and surface samples which can help determine the concentration of mold spores in the indoor air. We have highly specialized equipment to collect these samples which are then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The results can provide information on the type of mold spores present. However, no matter what type of mold contamination you have, it must be remediated promptly. Additionally, it may be necessary to perform invasive inspections, such as removing wall panels, ceiling tiles, or flooring to check for hidden mold growth. This is often required when the extent of contamination is suspected to be more severe than what is visible on the surface.
WILL THE MOLD COME BACK?
Our technicians have vast experience with moisture science and are trained to spot any underlying issues that may be contributing to the problem. We use top-of-the-line equipment to neutralize any mold growth or bacteria and seal in the treated area(s). In moisture prone or areas with water damage, some additional measures may need to be taken to ensure the mold does not return. We will make recommendations if any further steps should be taken such as additional home repair, airflow adjustments, or equipment usage to help reduce any future issues. We guarantee our work, however, mold can always return if the conditions of the space are not properly maintained.
HOW IS LEAD-BASED PAINT A HAZARD?
Lead-based paint was used in more than 30 million homes until it was banned for residential use in 1978. It was discovered that lead can affect children's developing nervous systems causing learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and reduced IQ. In adults exposure to low-levels of lead can pose many dangers causing high blood pressure, reproductive problems, anemia, and kidney problems. If you believe your home may contain lead-based paint, contact Safer Home Services for a FREE consultation.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY AIR PURIFY?
There are many home-use air purifiers available through local retailers, however, they are simply meant to maintain an environment that is already free of contaminants. Our professional air purifying services use industrial HEPA air scrubbers that are designed to filter out 99.97% of dust, pollen, bacteria, and any other airborne particles with a size of 0.3 microns.
